Psalm 41 (Rhyming)
(1) God Protects Those Who Help the Helpless
Joy comes to the person who treats the helpless with care,
You, God, will rescue him on the day of despair.
You will protect him, and make him fully alive,
During his time on earth he will thrive.
You won’t hand him over to foes who contrive.
You’ll sustain him when he’s sick in bed,
You’ll turn his illness into health instead.
(4) My Enemies Oppose Me
Oh, Existing One, show me Your grace,
Heal my soul—I’ve turned from Your face.
About me, my foes have bad things to say:
“When will he and his renown pass away?”
Whenever they come my way,
Empty formalities are all that they say.
Their hearts collect wickedness inside,
And wherever they go, they spout it far and wide.
They whisper together, viewing me with disdain,
Scheming against me to bring me pain.
They say, “Let evil be poured over his head,
So when he lies down, he never gets out of bed.”
Now I’m even opposed by a former friend,
We used to share meals; our trust came to an end.
(10) Lift Me Up, God
God, show me Your favor and lift me up high,
So I can make peace, and let the conflict die.
You’re pleased with me—here’s how I know:
I’m yet to be conquered by enemy or foe.
My integrity is upheld by You,
Putting me in Your presence is what you’ll always do.
(13) Bless God
To the Existing One, our knees will bend,
Bless him forever and ever with no end.
