David assembles Israel, transports ark

David consulted with every commander who led thousands or hundreds, and told all of Israel, "If it seems good to you and from the Existing One our God, then let's gather all our brothers together throughout all of Israel (including the priests and Levites). Then let's bring out God's ark since we didn't think about it in Saul's days." The entire assembly thought this was a good idea and agreed to gather.

So David assembled all of Israel from the Nile in Egypt all the way to Lebo-hamath so they could bring God's ark from Kiriath-jearim. David and all of Israel went up to Baalah (Kiriath-jearim which belongs to Judah) to bring out the ark of the Existing One who sits enthroned above the cherubim. They carried God's ark on a cart from Abinadab's house with Uzzah and Ahio were driving the cart. David and all of Israel were celebrating in front of God with all their energy, singing and playing lyres, harps, tambourines, cymbals, and trumpets.

God kills Uzzah for touching ark

When they came to the field in Chidon, the oxen stumbled so Uzzah put out his hand to grab the ark. That kindled the Existing One's anger against Uzzah, and he killed him for touching the ark, and he died right there in front of God. It made David angry when he saw the Existing One brake out against Uzzah, and to this day, that place is called Perez-uzza [which means Breaking Out Against Uzzah]. David became scared of God that day, and he said, "How can I bring God's ark to my home?" So David refused to bring the ark into the City of David, and instead took it to the house of Obed-edom (the Gittite). God's ark remained there for three months, and the Existing One blessed Obed-edom's household and everything they owned.
