1 Chronicles 14
Israel respected
Tyre's King Hiram sent messengers to David bringing cedar trees, masons, and carpenters to build him a house. David realized that the Existing One had established him as Israel's king and that the kingdom was highly respected for the sake of the Israelites.
David's family
David married more wives in Jerusalem, and had more sons and daughters. These are the names of his kids who were born in Jerusalem: Shammua, Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, Ibhar, Elishua, Elpelet, Nogah, Nepheg, Japhia, Elishama, Beeliada, and Eliphelet.
God uses David to defeat Philistines
When the Pilistines heard that David had been anointed as Israel's king, they all went looking for David. David heard about it and went out to fight them. Now the Philistines had raided the Valley of Rephaim, and David asked God, "Should I go fight the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?" And the Existing One answered, "Go, and I will hand them over to you." So he went up to Baal-perazim, and David slaughtered them there. He said, "God has used me to break through my enemies like a flood bursting forth," which is why that place is named Baal-perazim. Their gods remained there, so David gave the command, and they were burned.
Every nation fears David
Yet again the Philistines raided the valley. When David inquired of God again, God said to him, "You shouldn't go to them head on; instead, go around and meet them opposite from the balsam trees. When you hear the sound of marching coming from the tops of the balsam trees, then go out and fight, for God has gone out ahead of you to slaughter the Philistine army." So David did as God had said, and they defeated the Philistine army from Gibeon all the way to Gezer. David's fame spread across every lands, and the Existing One caused every nation to fear him.
