Psalm 36 (Rhyming)
Sin beckons godless people in their core.
“Respecting God” is something they ignore.
The allure of sin captivates their eyes,
They’re in the wrong but just don’t realize.
Their words are untrue and only cause pain,
Their goodness and wisdom shrink and drain.
They have impure thoughts at night in bed;
The path they’ve chosen has harm ahead;
…All because sin isn’t something they dread.
God, your compassion stretches wide and high,
Your steadiness reaches up to the sky.
Your justice is like a mountain to me,
Your good judgment is as deep as the sea,
You take living beings and set us free.
Your kindness is such a valuable thing,
We take refuge in the shade of your wing.
On your richness we gorge our appetites,
You’re like a river flowing with delights.
The wellspring of life finds its source in you,
We see light in the radiance that you spew.
With people who know you, continue being kind,
Be good to the people who have an upright mind.
Don’t let pride sneak up and find me,
Don’t let evil persuade me and blind me.
The wrongdoers have fallen to their demise,
They’ve been thrown down and are unable to rise.
