Adam’s Lineage to Noah

This is the book of humanity’s generations. When God created humanity, he made them similarly resemble God. He made them male and female. He adored them and named them “mankind.”

When Adam was 130 years old, he had a son named Seth [which means “compensation”] who similarly resembled himself. After Seth was born, Adam lived another 800 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Adam lived to be 930 years old before he died.

Seth was 105 years old when he had his son, Enosh [which means “man”]. Then Seth lived for another 807 years and had other sons and daughters. Seth lived to be 912 years old before he died.

Enosh was 90 years old when he had his son, Kenan [which means “possession”]. Then Enosh lived for another 815 years and had other sons and daughters. Enosh lived to be 905 years old before he died.

Kenan was 70 years old when he had his son, Mahalalel [which means “praise God”]. Then Kenan lived another 840 years and had other sons and daughters. Kenan lived to be 910 years old before he died. 

Mahalalel was 65 when he had his son, Jared [which means “descent”]. Then Mahalalel lived another 830 years and had other sons and daughters. He was 985 years old before he died.

Jared was 162 when he had his son, Enoch [which means “dedicated”]. Then Jared lived another 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Jared lived to be 962 before he died.

Enoch was 65 when he had his son, Methusalah [which means “man of the dart”]. After that, Enoch walked with God for 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived lived to be 365 years, but he didn’t die, because God took him away. 

Methusalah was 187 when he had his son Lamech [which means “powerful”]. Then Methuselah lived another 782 years and had other sons and daughters. Methusalah lived to be 969 years old before he died.

Lamech was 182 when he had his son. He named him Noah [which means “rest”], and said,

“He’ll comfort us from all the work the ground gives us because of the Existing One’s curse on it.” 

Lamech lived another 590 years and had other sons and daughters. Lamech lived to be 777 years old before he died.

Noah was 500 when he had his sons, Shem [which means “name”], Ham [which means “hot”], and Japheth [which means “opened”].
