God’s Master Plan
According to Ephesians, God’s master plan is to “sum up everything in Jesus.”
“God made known to us the mystery of His will … that is, the summing up of all things in Christ.”
—Ephesians 1:9–10
But what does it mean to “sum up” everything in Jesus? While that terminology is kind of hard to understand, I think I get the gist of what it means. God wants everything to:
be wrapped up or compiled into Jesus.
be immersed in Jesus.
base its existence in Jesus.
exist inside of Jesus (not physically, but spiritually).
become united with Jesus.
That’s pretty cool. Jesus said that He “is life,” so if we become “summed up” in Him, we’d become “summed up” with Life. As a result, we’d start experiencing all 9 characteristics of spiritual life, and our spirits would live forever (even after our bodies die).
