Zechariah 2

(1) Vision 3: Measuring Tape

Then I looked up and saw a man holding a measuring tape. So I asked,

“What are you doing with that?”

He said,

“I’m going to measure Jerusalem and see how wide and long it is.”

Then the messenger who was talking to me went over to meet a second messenger who was approaching. The second messenger said,

“Hurry and tell that young man that the Existing One says,

‘Jerusalem will have so many people and animals living in it that city walls won’t be able to contain them all—but I will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the magnificence in her midst.’”

(6) God will Reunite with Jerusalem

The Existing One says, 

“Run away from the north, because I spread you guys out like the four winds up in the sky. Jerusalem, all of your people who live with Babylon’s daughter need to get away from her.

“After glory, He [God] will send Me [Jesus?] to oppose the countries that plunder you, because when someone hurts you, they’re hurting the apple of God’s eye. I’ll wave My hand over them, and they’ll be looted by their own slaves. Then you’ll know that the Existing One behind all of creation has sent Me.

“Jerusalem’s daughter, you can sing joyous songs and be happy, because I’m coming to live in your midst. When that day comes, lots of different countries will join themselves to the Existing One and become My people. Then I’ll live right there in the middle of you and you’ll realize that the Existing One behind all of creation has sent Me to you.

“The Existing One will have Judah as His inheritance in the sacred land, and He’ll choose Jerusalem again.

(13) Silence Yourself, Because God has Come

“Everything with a body of flesh, you need to quiet down, because He has been awoken from His sacred lair.”
