Romans 6

(1) I don’t work for corruption anymore because in Jesus I’ve already received corruption’s salary of death

So how should we think? Should we continue to live in corruption so that grace can abound? No way! If we’ve died to corruption then how would we still live in it? Don’t you realize that everyone who has been immersed into Jesus has also been immersed into His death? Immersion has buried us together with Jesus into death. The Father’s splendor awakened the Chosen One from death so that we might move forward with fresh life. If we’ve been united with Jesus in the resemblance of his death, then we’ll also resemble his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified together with Jesus so that our corrupted body might become inoperative and end our enslavement to corruption. Because whoever has died has received their salary from corruption.

(8) I’ve died with Jesus, so now I also live with him

Now if we’ve DIED with the Chosen One, we trust that we’ll also LIVE with Him. We know that Jesus won’t die again since He’s already been awakened from the dead. Death doesn’t rule over Him any more. When He DIED, He died to corruption once and for all—but now that He LIVES, He lives to God. So regard yourselves as dead to corruption but alive to God in Jesus.

(12) Make yourself available for God to use as a weapon of righteousness

So don’t let corruption reign in your mortal body—don’t open the door when its desires come knocking. Don’t let your limbs be at corruption’s disposal to use as weapons of wickedness. Instead, put yourself at God’s disposal like someone who’s alive from the dead. Make your limbs available for God to use as weapons of righteousness. Corruption shouldn’t rule over you, because you aren’t under the law but under grace.

(15) Living on standby at God’s disposal develops holiness

What now? Should we oppose God since we’re under grace instead of the law? No way! When you put yourself on standby to follow someone else’s orders, you are enslaved to the person you're attending to—you’ll either be enslaved to corruption (which results in death), or you’ll be enslaved to obedience (which results in righteousness). Don’t you realize that? You used to be slaves of corruption, but by God’s grace you sincerely opened the door to the teaching you were handed over to. You were set free from corruption and became subjected to righteousness. I am speaking in human terms because of your flesh’s weakness. Your limbs were slaves on standby to impurity and lawlessness (which then led to more lawlessness). But now in that same way, let your limbs be slaves on standby to righteousness (which results in the process of becoming holy).

Death is my salary when working for corruption, but God gives infinite life in Jesus

When you were enslaved to corruption, you weren’t enslaved to righteousness. What benefit did you get from those things you’re now ashamed of? The revenue you gain from those things is death. But now that you’re freed from corruption and enslaved to God, you have the benefit of becoming holy which generates the revenue of infinite life. When you work for corruption your salary is death, but in our master Jesus the Chosen One, God hands out infinite life for free.
