Nehemiah 3

Sheep Gate construction

Then Eliashib (the high priest) and his brothers (the priests) got up and built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and hung its doors. They consecrated it from the Tower of the Hundred all the way to the Tower of Hananel. Jericho’s men built next to him, and Zaccur (Imri’s son) built next to them.

Fish Gate construction

Hassenaah’s descendants built the Fish Gate. They laid its beams and hung its doors with all its bolts and bars. Meremoth (Uriah’s son from Haakoz) repaired next to them. Meshullam (Berechiah’s son and Meshezabel’s grandson) repaired next to them. Zadok (Baana’s son) repaired next to them. Tekoites repaired next to them, but their nobles wouldn’t stoop that low to serve their Master.

Yeshanah Gate construction

Joiada (Paseah’s son) and Meshullam (Besodeiah’s son) repaired the Yeshanah Gate. They laid its beams and hung its doors with its bolts and bars. Melatiah (the Gibeonite) and Jadon (the Meronothite), the men from Gibeon and Mizpah, repaired next to them which was by the governor of the province west of the river. Uzziel (Harhaiah’s son) and the goldsmiths repaired next to them. Hananiah (one of the perfumers) repaired next to him, and they restored Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall. Rephaiah (Hur’s son, ruler over half of the Jerusalem district) repaired next to them. Jedaiah (Harumaph’s son) repaired next to them. Hattush (Hashabneiah’s son) repaired next to him. Malchijah (Harim’s son) and Hasshub (Pahath-moab’s son) repaired another section and the Ovens Tower. Shallum (Hallohesh’s son, ruler over half of the Jerusalem district) and his daughters repaired next to him.

Valley Gate construction

Hanun and Zanoah’s inhabitants repaired the Valley Gate. They rebuit it, hung its doors, with its bolts and bars, and repaired 1500 feet of the wall as far as the Dung Gate.

Dung Gate construction

Malchijah (Rechab’s son, ruler of the Beth-haccherem district) repaired the Dung Gate. He rebuilt it and hung its doors with its bolts and bars.

Fountain Gate construction

Shallum (Col-hozeh’s son, ruler of the Mizpah district) repaired the Fountain Gate. He rebuilt it, covered it, and hung its doors with its bolts and bars. He built the wall for the Shelah Pool in the king’s garden as far as the stairs that go down from David’s city. After him Nehemiah (Azbuk’s son, ruler of half the Beth-zur district) repaired from a point opposite of David’s tombs all the way to the artificial pool and the house of the strong warriors. After him, the Levites repaired: Rehum (Bani’s son). Next to him Hashabiah (ruler over half the Keilah district) repaired for his district. After him their brothers repaired: Bavvai (Henadad’s son, rule over half the Keilah district). Next to him Ezer (Jeshua’s son, ruler over Mizpah) repaired another section opposite the ascent to the armory at the buttress. After him Baruch (Zabbai’s son) repaired another section from the buttress to the door of Eliashib (the high priest)’s house. After him Meremoth (Uriah’s son, Hakkoz’s grandson) repaired another section from Eliashib’s door to the end of Eliashib’s house. After him the priests from the surrounding area repaired. After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them Azariah (Maaseiah’s son, Ananiah’s grandson) repaired next to his own house. After him Binnui (Henadad’s son) repaired another section from Azariah’s house to the buttress and the corner. Palal (Uzai’s son) repaired opposite the buttress and the tower projecting from the king’s upper house at the guard’s courtyard. After him Pedaiah (Parosh’s son) and the temple servants living on Ophel repaired to a point opposite the Water Gate on the east and the projecting tower. After him the Tekoites repaired another section opposite the large projecting tower as far as the Ophel wall.

Horse Gate construction

Above the Horse Gate the priests repaired each one opposite his own house. After them Zadok (Immer’s son) repaired opposite his own house. After him Shemaiah (Shecaniah’s son, the East Gate’s keeper) repaired. After him Hananiah (Shelemiah’s son) and Hanun (Zalaph’s 6th son) repaired another section. After him Meshullam (Berechiah’s son) repaired opposite his room. After him Malchijah (one of the goldsmiths) repaired as far as the house for the temple servants and merchants, opposite the Muster Gate, and to the corner’s upper room of the corner. The goldsmiths and merchants repaired between the corner’s upper room and the Sheep Gate.
