Leviticus 15

Bodily discharge is unclean

The Existing One told Moses and Aaron,

“Tell the Israelites that whenever anyone has a discharge from his body, the discharge is unclean. This is the law for determining if his discharge is unclean: the discharge is his uncleanliness whether it leaves his body or if it blocks up his body. Any bed he lies on will be unclean, and anyone who touches his bed needs to wash his clothe, take a bath, and will be unclean until the evening. If he sits on something and them someone else sits there, that person will need to wash his clothes, take a bath, and be unclean until the evening. If anyone touches the person with the discharge, that person will need to wash his clothes, take a bath, and be unclean until evening. If the man with the discharge spits on anyone who is clean, that person should wash his clothes, take a bath, and be unclean until evening. If the man with the discharge sits on a saddle, it will be unclean. If anyone touches anything that he sat on will be unclean until the evening. If anyone carries things he touched, that person must wash his clothes, take a bath, and be unclean until the evening. If the man with the discharge touches anyone without rinsing his hands in water first, that person must wash his clothes, take a bath, and be unclean until the evening. If the man with the discharge touches any clay pottery, that vessel must be broken, and if it’s wood it needs to be rinsed in water.

“When his discharge stops, that person needs to wait seven days, wash his clothes, take a bath, and then he’ll be clean. Then on the 8th day, he should take 2 turtledoves or pigeons to the Existing One at the meeting tent’s entrance. The priest will use one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make amends for him and his discharge before the Existing One.

Emission of Semen is unclean

“If a man has an emission of semen, he needs to take a bath and be unclean until the evening. Any clothes or skin that touched the semen needs to be washed with water and will be unclean until the evening. If a man sleeps with a woman and has an emission of semen, they will each need to take a bath and will be unclean until the evening.

Menstrual bleeding is unclean

“When a woman has a discharge of blood, she will begin her menstrual impurity for seven days, and whoever touches her will be unclean until the evening. Anything she lies on or sits on will be unclean until the evening. If anyone touches anything she sat on (including her bed) will need to take a bath and will be unclean until the evening. If any man sleeps with her and touches her menstrual impurity, he will be unclean for seven days along with any bed he lies on.

“If a woman has a discharge of blood for multiple days and it isn’t her period, or if her discharge lasts longer than her time of impurity, then she will continue in uncleanliness for as long as the discharge continues. She’ll be unclean just as if she were in her regular period of impurity.

Any bed she lies on during the discharge will be impure, and anything she sits on will be unclean (just as if she were on her menstrual impurity. If anyone touches any of these things, they’ll be unclean and should wash his clothes, take a bath, and will be unclean until the evening. When her discharge stops, she needs to wait seven days, and then she’ll be clean. On the 8th day she needs to take 2 turtledoves or pigeons and bring them to the priest at the meeting tent entrance. The priest will use one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering to make amends before the Existing One for her and her discharge.

Defiling God’s tabernacle would result in death

“You need to keep the Israelites separate from their uncleanness so they don’t die by defiling my tabernacle which is in their midst.

“This is the law for anyone who has a discharge, men who have emissions of semen, women who are on their period, and men who sleep with a woman while she is unclean.
