These were the people who came from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer even though they couldn’t prove their ancestry and if they belonged to Israel:
652 from Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda’s lineages
priests sons: descendents from Habaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai (who married a daughter of Barzillai the Gileadite and took their name). These sought registration, but weren’t found in the genealogies, so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. The governor banned them from eating the most holy food until a priest could consult Urim and Thummim.
All together, the temple crew was 42,360 (plus their 7,337 servants, 200 singers, 736 horses, 245 mules, 435 camels, and 6,720 donkeys).
When they got to the Existing One’s house in Jerusalem, some of the patriarchs made freewill offerings for God’s house. They gave to the treasury as much as they could afford, including 1,143 pounds of gold coins 6,613 pounds of silver, and 100 pairs of priestly garments.
Now the priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, temple servants, and common people all lived back in their own towns.
