Exodus 6

God tells Moses he will rescue Israel from Egypt

Then the Existing One told Moses,

“Watch what I’ll do to Pharaoh now. I’ll strongarm him to release them and drive them out of his country.

“I am the Existing One who appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob as the ultimate God, but I didn’t tell them that my name was ‘the Existing One.’ I also established my alliance with them: to give them the territory of Canaan, the land where they lived as strangers. Also, I’ve heard Israel’s descendants as they’ve groaned throughout their enslavement to the Egyptians. I remember my alliance, so tell Israel’s descendants,

‘I am the Existing One. I’ll save you from the burden of Egypt’s enslavement, and I’ll rescue you from their servitude. I’ll also extend my arm and use severe judgments to avenge you. Then I will take you as my people like a husband takes a wife, and I will be your God. You’ll know that I’m your God, the Existing One, who rescued you from under the burden of Egypt's enslavement. I’ll bring you to the land I handpicked for Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and give it to you. I am the Existing One.’”

Israel ignore’s Moses’s message & Moses doubts himself

So Moses relayed the message to Israel’s descendants, but they didn’t listen because of how anguished their spirits were from their severe workload.

Then the Existing One told Moses,

“Go tell Pharaoh to release Israel’s descendants from his jurisdiction.”

But Moses told the Existing One,

“See how Israel’s descendants didn’t even listen to me? So why would Pharaoh listen to me? I am such a clumsy speaker.”

The Existing One talked to Moses and Aaron and ordered them to go to Pharaoh and lead Israel’s descendants out of Egypt.

Moses & Aaron were Levites (priests)

These are the heads of the heads of their patriarch’s households:

Those are the heads of the Levite forefathers’ households grouped by their families. The Aaron and Moses in that chart are the same Aaron and Moses who were told by the Existing One to bring Israel’s descendants out of Egypt.

The day when the Existing One spoke to Moses in Egypt was the same day that the Existing One told Moses to deliver the message to Pharaoh, but Moses said,

“I’m a clumsy speaker; why would Pharaoh listen to me?”
