Ecclesiastes 11

Anything Could Happen

Send your food away across the water’s surface, because it will come back to you much later.

Divide your property into 7 or even 8 sections, because you never know what catastrophe might take place on earth.

If the clouds are full, they’ll water the earth.

A tree might fall to the north or south, but wherever it lands is where it will be.

If you watch the wind you’ll never plant any seeds, and if you watch the clouds you’ll never harvest any crops. Just as we don’t know the wind’s route or how bones are formed in a pregnant woman’s belly, we don’t know what God is up to—and He’s the one who makes everything happen.

Plant your seeds in the morning, but don’t sit around in the evening because you never know which crops are gonna grow. (Hopefully both will.)

Age is a Vapor

Light is nice, and it’s good for the eyes to see the sun. If someone lives for along time, let him enjoy all his years—but let him keep in mind the days of darkness that will follow, because they will be many. Everything that is to come will be a vapor

Be glad during your childhood, young man, and let your heart be in a good place during your adolescence. Follow the ways of your heart, and follow your vision—just know that God will bring you to court regarding all of them. So push your worries and frustration out of your heart and remove misery from your body, because being young is a vapor
