Israel defeats Ammonite cities

That spring (the time of year when kings go to battle), Joab led the army to ravage the Ammonites country and captured Rabbah. They did all this while David stayed at Jerusalem. The Ammonite king's crown weighed 75 pounds of gold and contained valuable gemstones. This crown was taken off their king's head and placed on David's head. David brought out the loot from their city and it was a massive amount. He took the people of the city and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes. After doing this to all the Ammonite cities, David and the Israelites returned to Jerusalem.

Israelites defeat Philistine giants

Afterwards, a war started with the Philistines at Gezer. Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai (a descendant of the giants) and the Philistines were subdued. Another war with the Philistines was started, and Elhanan (Jair's son) killed Lahmi (the brother of Goliath the Gittite) whose spear was thick as a weaver's beam. Another war arose at Gath, where there was a very tall warrior with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot who also descended from the giants. When he taunted Israel, Jonathan (son of David's brother, Shimea) defeated him. These were the descendants of giants in Gath, and they were defeated by David and his servants.
